Jörg-Peter Elbers

As SVP of advanced technology, standards and IPR, Jörg-Peter Elbers is responsible for Adtran’s technology strategy, new product concepts, standardization and research. His interests include network and node design, efficient optical transmission and programmable systems. Advanced technology activities include SDN and NFV, beyond 100Gbit/s transmission, and next-generation optical access. Jörg joined Adtran in 2023 following its merger with ADVA.

Over his career, Jörg has authored and co-authored over 100 technical publications, three book chapters, and 15 patents. He is a member of the IEEE, heads the VDE (German Association for Electrical, Electronic & Information Technologies) expert committee for optical communications, and serves on the program committee of the Optical Fiber Communication Conference (OFC). He is a frequent reviewer of technical publications and serves on the Net!works and Photonics21 European Technology Platforms board.

Jörg’s career at ADVA spanned 16 years. Before that, he was at Marconi (now Ericsson) as director of technology in the optical product unit. He also worked at Siemens Optical Networks. Jörg received a Master’s degree and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Dortmund University, Germany.
